Biothane FAQ

Visit our Size Chart section under the About Us tab. You’ll find all the information you will need! Please reach out directly if you have questions.
Our waterproof collars and leashes are crafted from Biothane, a durable, plastic-coated webbing designed to withstand water, mud, and the great outdoors. This material is non-absorbent, odor-resistant, and easy to clean with just soap and water—making it a low-maintenance, vegan alternative to our leather options. In our shop, we only use Beta Biothane - Super heavy, to ensure its longevity and toughness. While Biothane is incredibly tough, we can’t guarantee it will withstand the mighty jaws of your T-Rex puppy, so make sure to get the perfect fit for your little ball of fluff.
Most dogs go through 2 collars in their lifetime- Puppy years & Adult years.
With that being said, our buckle collars come in various sizes, giving you the ability to find the perfect fit for both phases of life. You will find that each collar comes with a roller buckle and gives a 3” growth range with plenty of wiggle room to grow. If you would like to customize your length, please contact us here to ensure the right fit as we do not offer exchanges/returns.
We don’t offer personalization at this time, but stay tuned because so many good things are coming to Mt. Oakley Threads!
- A simple rinse of soap and water will do the job. Pat dry with a towel. For extra cleaning, a little vinegar or disinfectant wipe works great (just avoid harsh chemicals like bleach).
- Do not allow flea medicine or Deet to come in contact with your biothane collar as it will adhere to it as a sticky substance and become hard to remove.
- Do not leave in diret sunlight.
- Be sure to frequently check your dogs collar after every mud romp or outdoor adventure to maintain its color and quality.
- While Biothane won’t absorb odors or moisture, it's important to take good care of your collar with a frequent rinse, so it stays fresh and ready for your next adventure!
Leather FAQ

Our drum-dyed leather is dyed all the way through in a big spinning drum, giving it rich, even color that won’t fade or wear off. It stays soft, flexible, and durable—perfect for adventure-ready dog collars. Over time it will soften from its stiffness, however this will not change the performance of the collar. We also only use leather that is 10oz or heavier, so you can feel the strength and quality every time you hold it!
Leather is a natural material, which means it develops unique markings and character over time.
We prep each collar with leather conditioner which helps to take on harsh sun and water. However, leather does soften, absorb oils from your dog and take on scratches from earths elements regardless of how prepped your collar is. We advise purchasing saddle soap and conditioner to maintain the look of your collar. However, don't worry about the integrity of your collar - it'll stand up to the test of time.
Use a soft, damp cloth to remove any dirt or dust. For tougher spots, gently clean with a mild soap (like saddle soap) and water, then wipe dry. Do not use any bleach, cleaner or alcohol to clean as it could damage the leather. Lay flat to air dry and avoid direct heat or sunlight.
